Imagination isn’t something we lose. It’s who we are. It is our ideas, our stories, our hopes, and our dreams.
What a thrill it was when, while catching up on emails and snail mail, I found a PDF and hard copy of my article, Dreaming Stories to Life, published in the December ‘fairytale’ issue of Writers Victoria magazine, The Victorian Writer.
In it I talk about the extraordinary experience I was so grateful to have earlier this year when I went on History, Mystery & Magic, a literary retreat and tour with award-winning Australian novelist and fountain of fairytale knowledge, Dr Kate Forsyth. Our group spent a week exploring the history, mystery, and magic of fairytales and writing, under the dreaming spires of Oxford and in the storybook villages of the Cotswolds.
In a further stroke of beautiful serendipity, my article was published in The Victorian Writer alongside one from Kate herself, in which she explores the darkness in fairytales. The whole issue is a delicious read, perfect for a silly season afternoon with a frosty beer or mulled wine.
Whatever you’re doing, I hope you find a little magic in today and wear it with flourish.
